DNA testing produced the next shock.
Amy was not Noah’s biological mother.
Richard Miller was not his biological father either.
Noah had been kidnapped as an infant.
The discovery devastated him.
Everything he believed about himself disappeared overnight.
Daniel found him sitting alone outside the police station.
“Then I don’t have anybody,” Noah whispered.
Daniel sat beside him.
“You have people who care about you.”
“You’re not my dad.”
“No.”
“Emma isn’t my sister.”
“No.”
Noah wiped his eyes.
“Then why are you still here?”
Daniel looked toward the station doors.
Because despite everything, Amy had raised the boy.
And Emma had already begun treating him like family.
“Because children shouldn't pay for adults’ mistakes.”
Noah looked at him.
For the first time since Amy disappeared, the boy seemed less afraid.
Then Detective Monroe came outside.
