Before the Bridge

Chapter 06 - Before the Bridge
Daniel began questioning everything he remembered about his marriage.
Amy had disappeared for unexplained weekends.
She had maintained a separate bank account.
Once, Daniel had discovered a motel receipt in another state.
Amy claimed it belonged to a coworker.
He believed her.
Because he loved her.
Now Detective Rachel Monroe reopened the disappearance investigation.
Within days, she found something the original investigators had missed.
Amy's car had not accidentally entered the river.
It had been parked near the bridge.
Someone had deliberately thrown her belongings into the water.
The entire scene had been staged.
Emma listened from the hallway as Daniel spoke with the detective.
Her mother had not been taken from them.
She had planned her disappearance.
But one question remained.
Why?
Detective Monroe placed an old photograph on Daniel’s kitchen table.
“Do you know this man?”
Daniel stared at the stranger standing beside Amy.
“No.”
The detective leaned forward.
“His name is Richard Miller.”
