Noah's Secret

Chapter 03 - Noah's Secret
Noah refused to give Daniel his address.
“My mom said I’m never supposed to tell anyone where we live.”
“Why?”
“She said a man might come looking for her.”
Daniel felt something cold move through his chest.
“Did she ever tell you his name?”
Noah shook his head.
But Emma had begun crying silently.
She had spent six years visiting an empty grave with her father.
Every birthday.
Every Christmas.
Every Mother’s Day.
And now there was a possibility that her mother had been alive the entire time.
Emma walked toward Noah.
“Have you ever seen a picture of my mom?”
She pulled out her phone and showed him an old family photograph.
Noah stared at the screen.
His face changed instantly.
“That’s her.”
Daniel turned away.
For years, he had blamed himself for Amy’s death.
Their marriage had been falling apart before she disappeared. They had argued that morning.
Amy had left the house in tears.
Daniel had believed those were the last words he would ever say to her.
Now he wondered whether Amy had not died at all.
Whether she had simply chosen to leave.
