The Address

Chapter 04 - The Address
Daniel did not pressure Noah again.
Instead, he called the school counselor.
Within an hour, they contacted Noah’s legal guardian.
The records showed something strange.
Noah Miller lived with a woman named Amy Miller.
But there was no birth certificate listing Amy as his biological mother.
The guardian paperwork had been filed six years earlier.
Exactly three weeks after Amy Carter disappeared.
Daniel felt his stomach tighten.
He drove home that evening with Emma sitting silently beside him.
Halfway there, she finally spoke.
“If Mom is alive, she didn’t want me.”
Daniel nearly pulled the car over.
“No.”
“She kept Noah.”
“We don’t know what happened.”
“She kept him, Dad.”
Daniel had no answer.
That night, someone knocked on their front door.
When Daniel opened it, Noah stood on the porch.
Alone.
Rain soaked his jacket.
He held the folded note in one hand.
“My mom found out I talked to you.”
Daniel stepped outside.
“Where is she?”
May you like
Noah began crying.
“She left.”
