Chapter 17 - Noah's Choice
Noah faced his own impossible decision.
The Bennetts wanted him home.
Amy wanted him safe.
He loved all of them.
A judge eventually created a gradual reunification plan.
Noah would spend time with his biological parents while maintaining contact with Amy.
Sarah Bennett surprised everyone.
She invited Amy to dinner.
The two mothers sat across from each other in uncomfortable silence.
Finally Sarah spoke.
“You raised my son.”
Amy lowered her eyes.
“I should have found you.”
“Yes.”
Amy began crying.
Sarah continued.
“I lost twelve years.”
“I know.”
“But he is kind because of you.”
Amy looked up.
Sarah reached across the table.
“I don't forgive everything.”
Amy nodded.
“I understand.”
“But I won't make him lose another mother.”
Noah, listening from the hallway, covered his mouth as tears filled his eyes.
