The Officer Everyone Blamed

Chapter 10 - The Officer Everyone Blamed
Daniel went to the address with federal agents.
The house looked abandoned.
It wasn't.
Inside, investigators found computers, burner phones and surveillance photographs.
Photographs of Sarah.
Photographs of Caleb.
Photographs of Elena.
There were also pictures of Daniel.
Someone had been watching all of them.
But Victor Shaw wasn't there.
Instead, they found a recorded message.
It was meant for Daniel.
Shaw admitted helping Grant Hale frame Owen.
He had altered security footage.
He had planted evidence.
And he had been paid well.
Years later, guilt caught up with him.
Shaw contacted Sarah.
He told her Owen was alive.
Then he gave her the ledger and the cash.
The bribery money had been collected for an upcoming expansion contract.
Shaw wanted Sarah to take everything to federal authorities.
Before he could testify, he disappeared.
His fake death had been staged by someone else.
Daniel watched the recording twice.
At the end, Shaw gave a warning.
"There is still someone inside airport police working for Hale."
That explained Sarah's phone call.
She wasn't saying Daniel was corrupt.
She was warning them that the badge itself was no guarantee.
Daniel returned to the protected office.
Caleb was waiting.
"Did you find my mom?"
"No."
Caleb looked down.
"But we found something that may help us."
Daniel showed Elena a map discovered in Shaw's house.
One location had been circled.
An old maintenance hangar on the north side of Mason Ridge Airport.
The same hangar where Owen Carter had worked the night the original money disappeared.
Daniel pointed to a date written beneath the circle.
Tomorrow.
And beside the date were two initials.
S.C.
Sarah Carter.

or someone planned to bring her.
