Reporters surrounded Nora’s house.
Articles painted Emily as a dead woman who had chased a millionaire’s fortune. Others accused Nora of arranging Lucas’s meeting with Adrian.
Adrian quickly realized the leak had come from people connected to his own family.
Richard admitted he had tried to “control” the story.
Adrian was furious.
“This is your grandson.”
Richard answered coldly.
“Then he should learn what carrying our name costs.”
Lucas heard enough to make a decision.
“I don’t want your name,” he told Adrian. “And I don’t want your money. I just want people to stop saying bad things about Mom.”
That night, Adrian ignored his public relations team.
He stood before the cameras alone.
“Emily Reed was not an extortionist,” he said.
“She was the woman I loved.”
