Adrian and Nora searched everywhere.
Eventually, Adrian remembered an abandoned stadium where he and Emily used to spend afternoons before his soccer career took off.
He found Lucas sitting alone in the bleachers.
Adrian did not lecture him.
He simply sat nearby.
Lucas finally asked, “Am I ruining your life?”
Adrian answered honestly.
“You’ve made it more complicated.”
Lucas almost smiled.
“But you are not ruining it.”
While preparing to leave, Lucas noticed an old metal box hidden beneath a cracked seat.
