Sarah's Voice

Chapter 13 - Sarah's Voice
The legal case moved quickly.
Sarah's attorney requested an emergency injunction preventing Dominic from selling the disputed coastal land.
Then Lily discovered something nobody expected.
A voicemail.
Sarah had recorded it two weeks before her death.
She sounded weak.
But her words were clear.
"Lily, I spent most of my life being afraid. Please don't inherit my fear."
Sarah explained the payment document.
Dominic had shown it to her years earlier.
He used the forged agreement to convince her Ethan would believe she had sold him out.
Sarah was ashamed.
She stayed silent.
"I made mistakes," Sarah said. "Dominic created the cage, but eventually I became afraid to open the door."
Lily cried as the recording continued.
Then Sarah spoke directly to Ethan.
"If you're hearing this, I'm sorry. I loved you when I left. I loved you when Lily was born. And some part of me never stopped."
Ethan turned away.
Ray placed a hand on his shoulder.
Sarah's final words were for Lily.
"Don't waste your life punishing people who are trying to love you."
When the recording ended, Lily looked at Ethan.
For the first time, she called him something other than Ethan.
"Dad?"
May you like
He looked up.
"Would you like to see where Mom is buried?"
