The Unseen Lens
Chapter 05 - The Unseen Lens
Sterling pulled a heavy, high-definition tablet from his leather briefcase, tapped the screen three times, and turned the glowing display toward Evelyn and the gathered board members.
"This estate is equipped with forty-eight ultra-high-definition, military-grade security cameras," Sterling announced, his sharp voice ringing over the silent terrace. "Including six 4K underwater, thermal, and overhead lenses permanently focused on the main pool area."
Sterling hit play. The tablet displayed a crystal-clear, multi-angle video feed recorded just four minutes prior.
On the high-definition screen, the overhead lens captured the crowd in exquisite detail. It showed Evelyn standing near the lounge, looking left and right to ensure no one was watching her, before stepping directly behind Sarah. It captured the exact second Evelyn planted both palms firmly into Sarah’s upper back, driving her full body weight forward to push the pregnant woman into the deep water. The video even magnified the cold, malicious smirk that spread across Evelyn’s face as Sarah vanished beneath the surface.
The surrounding guests erupted into a wave of disgusted, angry gasps. Prominent business figures who had been laughing with Evelyn just an hour ago recoiled in horror, taking several steps back to isolate her completely on the wet tiles.

"This direct video file has already been encrypted, watermarked, and uploaded to the district attorney’s secure evidence portal," Sterling added flatly, locking his tablet. "Along with a formal complaint for attempted double homicide."
"Attempted homicide?!" Evelyn shrieked, hysterical tears finally bursting through her heavy makeup. "No! You can't do this! I didn't mean to hurt her baby! It was just business competition!"
