Safe Waters

Chapter 10 - Safe Waters

Three months later.

The morning sun was soft and warm over the villa terrace. The sapphire pool shimmered gently under the clear blue sky, but today there were no corporate galas, no expensive suits, and no fake smiles.

Only family.

David sat on a comfortable lounge chair beneath a wide umbrella, carefully holding his newborn son, Noah, who was wrapped securely in a soft blue knitted blanket. Beside him on the deck, Lily was happily building a tall wooden block tower, while Sarah sat resting comfortably with a book, her arm draped affectionately across David’s shoulders.

News had swept through the financial markets weeks ago: Evelyn Reed’s investment firm had completely collapsed, her personal and business assets were liquidated by the courts to satisfy bank debts, and she was currently serving a twenty-year sentence in a state penitentiary with zero possibility of early parole.

The predators were gone. The villa was quiet and safe once more.

Little Noah let out a tiny, contented sigh in his father's arms, stretching his tiny fingers toward the sunlight. David leaned down, pressing a tender kiss onto his son’s forehead before looking up at his wife and daughter.

They had faced the dark, hidden currents beneath the surface—and together, they had emerged whole, unbroken, and surrounded by unconditional love.
