The Desperate Counterattack

Chapter 07 - The Desperate Counterattack
While the legal team prepared the warrants, Victoria was not sitting idle.
Driven mad by the humiliation at the hotel, she retreated to her family's downtown penthouse. Her wedding gown lay shredded on the floor, torn in a fit of rage. She poured herself a glass of gin, her phone pressed tightly to her ear as she dialed a contact she had swore never to use again.
"Julian," Victoria hissed into the phone. "I need your help."
On the other end of the line, a dark, low laugh echoed. Julian Vance—Adrian’s disgraced former business rival who had fled the country years ago after embezzling millions—listened intently.
"I heard about the spectacle at the hotel, Victoria," Julian purred mocking. "You let an eight-year-old brat ruin a multi-billion dollar union."
"Shut up!" Victoria screamed. "Adrian is going to destroy me! He’s auditing the accounts right now. If he finds out about the money transfers to your overseas shell companies, we’re both going to prison!"
Julian’s tone instantly shifted from mocking to razor-sharp coldness. "Then we don't give him the chance. Adrian’s weakness has always been his sentimentality. If he wants his little family so much, we take them back."
"What are you saying?" Victoria stammered, her heart racing.

"Send me the location of his private estate," Julian ordered. "I have men on the ground. By tomorrow morning, those kids will be in our possession, and Adrian will sign over his firm's assets if he ever wants to see them breathe again."
Victoria gripped the phone, a twisted, sinister smile spreading across her face. "The lakeside estate. I'll send you the security codes."
