The Vows Broken

Chapter 04 - The Vows Broken

Adrian knelt down on the cold floor. With trembling hands, he took the necklace, then pulled Clara and baby Mia into a tight embrace. The scent of sweat, tears, and fear on his daughters pierced his heart like a blade.

They were undeniably his. The eyes, the nose, and the tiny mole behind Mia’s ear—everything was indisputable proof.

Adrian raised his head. The look in his eyes when he faced Victoria held no trace of warmth or affection—only cold, absolute contempt and hatred.

“I... Adrian...” Victoria backed away, her heavily made-up face turning ghost-white.

Adrian stood up, holding baby Mia firmly in one arm while gripping Clara’s hand tightly with the other. He unpinned the groom's boutonnieres from his lapel and threw it straight at Victoria’s feet.

His voice echoed across the quiet ballroom, cold as ice:

May you like

“I will not marry you. This wedding is over.”

He turned his back, walking away with firm, unyielding steps out of the hall with his two daughters, leaving behind Victoria’s hysterical screams and the stunned silence of the guests. Her grand scheme to erase his past had completely crumbled before a child's love and the undeniable truth.
