The Missing Eleven Minutes

Chapter 05 - The Missing Eleven Minutes
The next morning, Noah pulled the service-corridor camera archive.
The footage was clean until 3:04 p.m.
Then the screen went black.
Eleven minutes later, the image returned.
Noah checked the maintenance log. No outage had been reported. No camera repair had been scheduled. Someone with administrative access had manually disabled the feed.
He found the login.
Security Office Terminal Two.
Only three people had permission to use it that afternoon.
One was the security director.
One was General Manager Richard Cole.
And the third was a temporary executive credential issued for the Wynn Foundation gala.
Noah’s phone rang before he could open the credential file.
It was Charlotte.
Her voice was calmer now.
“I understand you found my blue card.”
Noah looked at the screen. “Yes.”
“I lost it yesterday morning.”
“You had it in the hallway last night.”
Silence.
Then Charlotte said, “I was upset. Perhaps I misspoke.”
Noah did not answer.
“I want that card returned to my father’s office,” she continued. “And I want the search of Elena Cruz’s locker completed before noon.”
“Why Elena?”
“She was in my suite.”
“So were six other people.”
Charlotte’s breathing changed.
“You are an assistant manager, Mr. Bennett. I suggest you remember the word assistant.”
The call ended.
Noah opened the executive credential file.

The name attached to the temporary security access made his chest tighten.
Charlotte Wynn.
